Pimcore Studio: Classic UI Deprecation and Migration Path
Pimcore has officially confirmed the deprecation of the Classic Admin UI and positioned Pimcore Studio as the single future-facing interface. More importantly, Pimcore has now clearly defined how organizations can transition to Studio without disruption or unnecessary risk.
This announcement removes much of the uncertainty teams have been facing around timing, platform versions, and long-term support, and provides a structured path forward for enterprise implementations.
Key Timeline and Platform Releases
Pimcore has outlined a clear transition window built around two core platform versions:
Pimcore Platform 2026.1
- Expected end of March 2026
- Studio-only release
- Classic UI will no longer be available
Pimcore Platform 2025.4 (LTS)
- Remains the strategic transition release
- Supports Classic UI and Pimcore Studio in parallel
- Designed specifically to enable safe migration projects
This means organizations are not forced into an immediate UI switch and can plan the transition on their own timeline.
Critical Clarification: Studio 1.0 and the LTS Exception
A key and often misunderstood detail is how Pimcore Studio 1.0 will be delivered.
Although Platform Version 2025.4 is an earlier release, Studio 1.0 will be added to 2025.4 as a deliberate exception. This ensures that teams can adopt the first fully stable Studio release without immediately upgrading to a Studio-only platform.
Studio 1.0 will be delivered to Platform Version 2025.4 as soon as it is ready, very likely at the same time Pimcore 2026.1 is released.
This approach allows organizations to:
- Adopt Studio 1.0 on a Long-Term Support platform
- Avoid rushing into a major platform upgrade
- Decouple UI migration from broader system changes
Stability and Support Commitments
Pimcore has also clarified how stability and support will be handled during the transition period.
After the release of Pimcore 2026.1:
- Platform Version 2025.4 will continue receiving Studio-specific bug fixes and updates for an additional three months
- This ensures Studio reaches full feature stability in real-world production environments
In addition:
- Pimcore 2025.4 is an LTS release supported until the end of 2028
- This provides long-term security, predictable maintenance, and enterprise-grade planning confidence
Why This Matters for Pimcore Teams
This migration strategy gives teams a controlled and realistic window to move away from the Classic UI:
- Validate Pimcore Studio 1.0 in production
- Migrate custom UI extensions and admin workflows incrementally
- Reduce accumulated technical debt before moving to a Studio-only future
Rather than a forced switch, Pimcore has created a transition model that prioritizes stability, control, and long-term maintainability.
